JOB TITLE:    Quality Assurance Engineer                       DEPT.:        Quality

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide quality support to assigned product, projects and/or area to ensure process and product are in accordance with customer (internal/external) requirements and specifications.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the development and implementation of statistical process control.

Ensure both customer and Electroswitch requirements and processes are met throughout the operation cycle.  Review, develop and analyze process control systems to ensure product compliance.  Support supply solutions and technical issues relating to quality at all levels of business (supplier, manufacturer and customer).

Responsible for creating documentation and reviewing quality trends associated with the Cost of Quality and for participating in the generation and implementation of defect-reduction programs.  Acquire trend information from formal sources such as the quality data system and informally through frequent interactions with suppliers, customers, supervisors, product engineers, inspectors and production personnel to determine quality problems.

Provide quality engineering assistance to Production, Material Control, Engineering, Sales and the Machine Shop to resolve any quality related issues relative to the manufacturing of switches.

Certify and monitor component suppliers for dock-to-stock program and regular usage of supplier parts based on test data, history and function and interfacing as necessary to ensure the quality of components.

Participate in the New Product Introduction process and create necessary aid and inspection

Documentation to ensure a smooth transfer from Engineering to Manufacturing.

Support company calibration program for all electrical test equipment and some plant mechanical test, measurement, and production equipment.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluate, review and maintain industry standards used to control the quality assurance program at Electroswitch.

Assist and instruct personnel in the required training necessary to meet the latest standards and specifications.

Audit internal/external customers to ensure the latest requirements are all being met and maintained as required.

Perform other duties as assigned or as may be necessary.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a level of knowledge that is usually associated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with business related courses along with one to three years of related experience.

Good understanding of Quality Control standards.

Good understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems or equivalent.

Knowledge of computer programs (i.e., Excel, Word, MiniTab).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Required to sit, stand, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Combination of Manufacturing and Office environment
  • Regular exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold and odors
