Buyer / Planner

This position is responsible to assist the Purchasing Department in the purchase of materials and supplies necessary for the maintenance and operation of the Company. Responsibilities also include the scheduling of customer orders and stock replenishment orders in a manner consistent with providing customer service and manufacturing efficiency.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Purchasing Department in the procurement function of the Company ensuring the purchase of quality products at the proper price and delivered in a timely fashion.

 

Review MRP reports and requisitions for materials and supplies and place orders on the basis of best cost, delivery and quality.

 

Maintain and coordinate the Purchasing Kanban program.

 

Coordinate the processing and purchase orders of materials for outside processing.

 

Expedite purchase orders as required.

 

Assist in the scheduling and expediting of sales orders to meet customer demands.

 

Assist in the scheduling of all non-stock and special switches in a manner consistent with company objectives and customer requirements.

 

Provide the Sales Department with accurate delivery information for sales orders and quotes.

 

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, schedule and expedite machine components in support of manufacturing schedules and inventory goals.

 

Act as secondary contact for the Sales Department for expediting and providing the status of sales orders.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a level of knowledge usually associate with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration. Ability to effectively communicate with suppliers and internal departments.  Knowledge of computer systems (Outlook, Word, Excel) and two to five years experience in customer service with strong communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of Purchasing and Manufacturing practices preferred.
